Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

Orange ChickenAnother Slow cooker recipe to fit your busy schedule, and another orange chicken recipe to add to this here blog of mine. Apparently when I see a recipe for orange chicken I make it, and then tell you about it. I have plenty of orange chicken recipes on this blog, but this one, I think has been my favourite. It does have quite a lot of ingredients. Kind of intimidating when you look at the list, but I think you will find you have most of the ingredients on hand. Really when you are throwing things in a slow cooker, it seems to make everything a’okay.

Recipe from Taste of Home Slow Cooker Throughout the Year

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 large bell pepper
  • 2 cups broccoli
  • hot cooked rice

1. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces. Coat in cornstarch and salt and pepper. Place in bottom of slow cooker. Seed and slice bell pepper, place on top of chicken.

2. Whisk together first 11 ingredients and pour on top of chicken and bell pepper. Cook on low for 4 hours.

3. Add broccoli. Increase heat to high, and cook for 40 minutes.

4. Serve over rice.

5. Eat and enjoy!
